Research on Costumes

Costumes are usually found in the theatre and they help to establish the background behin the character. Usually the costume will represent wher ethe character is from and quite often their profession, time period and age. Costumes vary in size shape and material depending on the character their portraying, for example in Cats, the costumes are made from lycra to provide flexibility in their dance routines, wheres Characters from Les Miserables would wear more dense materials that are suited to keeping warm during the french revolution for people of poorer backgrounds. Costume represents all elements of clothing, including shoes and accesories.
